The workflow of

The realization of a project of construction, renovation or redevelopment of an industrial site or an architectural structure is today facilitated and accelerated thanks to the use of new advanced technologies. Let us discover how the platform and its workflow work.

Step 1: The first step of the workflow is the 3D survey of the site "as built" thanks to the use of fixed, mobile or drone laser scanners (lasergrammetry and photogrammetry). These technologies allow to scan the environment with precision by reducing measurement errors, the time of the survey and the manpower used to collect the site information. The use of these powerful technologies is beneficial to centralize a maximum of data by bypassing natural and artificial obstacles that can hinder the identification of all parts of the structure.

Step 2: At the end of the 3D survey of the site, the scanner digitizes the collected data to deliver them in the form of point clouds. These point clouds are imported in a digitizing software such as Register 360, compatible with the platform for the visualization of 360 images, in order to be assembled and to form only one (click here to see the article concerning the assembly of the point clouds).

Step 3: The obtained point cloud is integrated in the is a collaborative Saas web platform, dedicated to the processing, the exploitation and the sharing of point clouds. This web application puts at the disposal of the users advanced tools and developed functionalities to analyze their point clouds and to accelerate the later stages of the realization of a project. It is possible to import 2D/3D models in multiple formats (IFC, OBJ, FBX, STEP and many others) into a point cloud in order to model and create a 3D model. The point clouds and the documentation provided serve as a support for creating a 3D model while minimizing potential modeling errors. This cloud solution is designed to optimize the collaboration and sharing of 3D data between the different stakeholders of a project. Several workstations are able to connect to view, exploit and share information about point clouds and 3D models, according to the roles they are administered.

Step 4: The clouds of points lightened, thanks to the tools of trimming and export, and exploited on can be exported towards the CAD software, serving to accelerate the phases of modeling. The web platform allows to export under several formats compatible with the CAD software.

The use of an online solution such as enters perfectly in an approach Scan To BIM (Building Information Modeling), respecting 5 dimensions: the collection of 3D data as well as the exploitation and the sharing of those but also the temporal and financial dimensions. Indeed, the point cloud to BIM approach optimizes the visualization of a project by the entire work team. It also allows to reduce the costs generated by the realization of the project or to anticipate them to reduce them and to improve the management of time.
